Anton Kallio was born in Chisholm July 26, 1914, and attended school there and for two years at Hibbing Jr. College. Following his schooling he worked as a civil engineer for the mining companies in the area until 1945 when he moved to Linden Grove and operated the Kallio's IGA Foodliner until 1974.
He was married to Ellen Paavola May 26, 1936, in Chisholm.
In 1968 he and Mrs. Kallio started the A&E drive-in restaurant, which they sold in 1974.
Mr. Kallio served as mayor of Orr since January 10, 1977, until his death. He was president of the Orr Area Senior Citizens Club, the Orr Low-Rent Housting Authority and was active in securing funding for the new Orr city hall now under construction.
He was president of the Plaza Mixed Bowling Liegue for the past four years and formerly active in the Cook Rifle Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
(The Orr Housing buildings name was later changed to Kallio Apartments in his honor.)
