George Allen was the son of John Allen and Elizabeth Shell of Northumberland,England. He married Ann Hooper, daughter of John Hooper and Mary Nesbitts. George and Ann Allen came to America, May 1884 through the port of New York. They settled in Richland County, Illinois, living there for twelve years. George heard of a place in California where he could farm almost all the year around. They moved to California. George lived to celebrate his 100 birthday. A month later he fell and died from the results of the fall.
