She married James Albert Andrew Jackson Shields and had four young children, Florence, Sherman, Rachel, and Willard Beatrice 'Jodie'. She was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Harbin and Mahala Elizabeth 'Bettie' Hobson.

She is remembered lovingly by her son, Sherman Shields...He remembers her as being 'sweet and kind'. Though they were quite poor and her workload was heavy, she kept her 4 children and the house clean. He especially appreciates that he always had a clean bed to sleep in. He was too young at this time to lighten her load much, but he did what he was capable of doing to show his love and appreciation for her. He was too little to 'fetch the water', but he was happy to be able to churn the butter and grind the coffee for her. He was 5 years old when she died.
He accompanied his father after her death by wagon to find a piece of granite to mark her grave. My father was born in 1922 and still remembers that sad journey. He couldn't recall details about where exactly she was buried, so I was overjoyed to find a memorial with a photo on Find a Grave. My husband and I were happy to be able to visit Hillabee Cemetery and leave a plaque to sit beside the granite rock that was placed there so many years ago. It pleased my father greatly.
