Eliza Catherine Stinson, daughter of Daniel Greene Stinson and Esther [née Gaston] Stinson, was born on the 6th of December 1830 in Chester District, South Carolina. Eliza was the granddaughter of Joseph and Jane [née Brown] Gaston.

Eliza was married to her 1st cousin, Samuel Joseph Lewis. Their mother's were sisters. Eliza and Samuel Lewis had the following known children:

William Stinson "Willie" (1867-1870)
