Lute was the son of John Henry and Pinkie Alice Bourne Skinner of Lincoln Co. NM.

On 10 Jan 1897 he married Ella Corn in Parsons, Lincoln, New Mexico.

Lute worked on the Bonita Pipeline and was given a citation for his work there. His wife Ella received a letter of gratitude from the Conservation Board when Lute died. Lute was Director of the Pecos Water Users Association.

Lute died in Roswell, but his burial took place at Carlsbad Cemetery, Eddy Co. NM
