Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Dannel and Horton Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Nellie Inez Cordell, 78, of 1925 Princess Drive who died late Saturday in a Sherman hospital. Rev. Gary Reynolds of First Christian Church officiated and burial was in Cederlawn Memorial Park.

Born in Lypan, Texas, she was the daughter of George Erskin and Alice Hunter Helms. She attended Grayson County schools and was married to Arlie Cordell on Feb. 16, 1917 at Sherman. She had been a resident of Sherman 15 years, having moved here from Whitewright. She was a member of First Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband; sons Robert Cordell and Terry Cordell both of Sherman, L.C. Cordell of Whitesboro, and Herbert Cordell of Gunter; daughters Norma Jean Steele and Almeda Elliott, both of Sherman, Juanita Mathena of Fort Collins, Colo., and Lorene Johnson of Denison,; brother Victor Helms of Decatur; sister Mrs. Tom Scrivner of Sherman; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.
Preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Patsy L. Schneider and Elouise Spencer.
