Prominent educator and community leader. Helped convince Gov. Montague to support women's suffrage in Virginia. With her husband, gave the land for Sunnyside High School, McKenney, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, built in 1911. She worked to get it accredited as the first 8-month rural school in Virginia.
