Jennings: A mass of Christian burial for Pearly Istre Crochet, 68, will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau, La on Friday, January 22, 2010 @ 2:00 PM with Father Donald Lege officiating. Mrs. Crochet passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning at the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, January 21st from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Friday, January 22nd at 8:00 AM until the time of her services. A rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM. Mrs. Crochet will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Lee James Crochet, in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery.

Pearly was born in Mermentau, La to the late Leon & Edolie Richard Istre on October 22, 1941. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pearly was married to her beloved husband, Lee, for 37 years until his passing in October 2009.

Leaving behind to cherish her memories is her children, Marvin (Annette) Whitman of Lake Arthur and DaWanda (Murphy) Touchet of Mermentau; two brothers, Robertson Istre of Crowley and Camily Joseph Istre of Mermentau; 4 grandchildren, M.J. & Jared Touchet and Dakotah & Austin Whitman; 6 great grandchildren, James, Ethan, Dominic, Mayleah, Illayana, & Isabelle.

Preceded in death by her parents, Leon & Edolie Richard Istre; husband, Lee James Crochet.
