Early Sunday morning on January 17, 2010, Jake was called home to rest with the LORD. Jake M. James, Jr. was born March 16, 1941. He served in the US Army. Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife, Madora T. James, and to this union, was born two sons. Jake retired from Okeechobee County School System. Jake and family attended St. Stephens AME Church and were active members. Jake leaves to mourn two sons Gregory (Charlotte) of Okeechobee and Jason (Tanya) of Atlanta, GA; Fiance, Shirley Townsend of West Palm Beach; sister, Carolyn (Eugene) of AL; three brothers, Rev. Douglas M. (Ella) of AL, Ronald P. (Beatrice) of CA and Leroy of VA; brother-in-law, Retired Sergeant First Class Edward of AL; sisters-in-law, Anna Belle and Gloria both of AL and Lucille of TN; five grandchildren, Kayla, Alexus, Zora, Wilo and Gregory II; 31 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews and several godchildren. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at First Missionary Baptist Church, Okeechobee.
