John Wilson Valentine was born March 23, 1858, in Clear Creek Township, the son of Ezra and Andaline Conrad Valentine. He was also the grandson of Noah and Mary Elizabeth Conrad Valentine. On March 3, 1887, he married Susanna Martin, in Fairfield County, Ohio, daughter of Adam P. and Mary Ann Grosh Martin. They were the parents of two known children: Warren Elmer and Ralph Leroy Valentine. John passed away October 8, 1913, in Clear Creek Township, and was buried on the 10th in New Dutch Hollow Cemetery there.

"Notes Sold. Susanah Valentine, administratrix of J. W. Valentine, filed application to sell two notes of $2,200 each, dated August 8, 1914, bearing interest at six per cent from date, secured by mortgage. Signed Harman Kerns. Order of sale issued."
