J.S. Berryman, County Resident Since 1929, Dies

James Sherman Berryman, a resident of Hall County since 1929, died at 10:40 p.m. Friday in Hall County Hospital. He was 83 years of age.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Estelline with Rev. Royce Denton, pastor, officiating.

Interment was in Hulver Cemetery under the direction of Spicer's Funeral of Memphis.

Berryman was united in marriage to Georgeia [sic] Davenport in 1903 in Oakland, Okla.

A retired farmer, he was a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Estelline.

Mrs. Berryman preceded him in death in 1957.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J. Wagner Cope of Parnell; sons, Euel S. of Baldwin Park, Calif., Floyd of Amarillo, and Nathan of Tulsa, Okla.; brothers, John of Estelline, Jess of Ada, Okla., and Lester of Bowie; a sister, Mrs. Zora Lee of Ada, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Crump Ferrel, Parge Winn, Barney Russell, Jack Boney, Jr., Carl Hill, Jack Boney, Sr., Jim Morrison and Doc Rogers.

Estelline Rites Set Monday for J.S. Berryman

James S. Berryman, 85, of Estelline, a long-time resident of Hall County, passed away in Hall County Hospital at 10:50 p.m. Friday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church in Estelline with Rev. Royce Denton, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hulver Cemetery in Hulver under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home of Memphis.

Mr. Berryman moved to Hall County in 1929 where he farmed in the Parnell Community. Born June 17, 1882, in Scott County, Ark., he married Miss George Alma Davenport on Oct. 3, 1903, in Oakman, Okla. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Estelline.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J. Werner Cope of Parnell; three sons, Euel S. of Baldwin Park, Calif., Floyd of Amarillo, and Nathan of Tulsa, Okla; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, John of Estelline, Jess of Ada, Okla., Lester of Bowie; one sisters, Mrs. Aora Lee of Ada, Okla.
