BEARD
Leo Virgil Beard, son of Alton Clifton and Linnie (Parrish) Beard, was born on the 10th of June 1915 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and passed from this life into eternity on the 14th of January 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 3 days.

Leo was married to Verna Payton and from this union were born two children--Howard and Barbara.

He was a member of the East Park Missionary Baptist Church in Stilwell. He was baptized in September 1996.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Verna (Payton) and second wife Iona (Dodd); one brother, Ray Clifton Beard; and one sister, Imogene Crosswhite Kerby.

He is survived by: one son, Howard of Georgia, and one daughter, Barbara of Washington; five sisters, Eva Mae Maggard, Faye Tuttle and Gladys Johnson, all of Oklahoma, Artie Long of Arkansas, and Dora Lagaly of Texas; one brother, James Beard of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held Monday, the 19th of January 1998 at the Foreman Cemetery with Brother Paul EX of Stilwell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Westville.
