After graduating from Wyalusing High School, Orrin attended George Washington University in Washington, DC for his undergraduate degree, later earning his law degree at the now defunct Southeastern University in Washington, DC. During college, Orrin worked at Woodworth and Lothrop Department Store, modeling for men's suits for advertisements in newspapers.
In 1936, he was hired by the FBI, first working as a tour guide for the headquarters, retiring in 1968 as a Special Agent. He was involved with the investigation of JFK's assassination, a trusted agent of J. Edgar Hoover, and President Johnson's favorite agent to have on his detail. After retiring from the FBI, Orrin was the head of security for the tours of Paul McCartney and the Wings, and The Bee Gees.
Orrin married Louise Dudley Drennon in 1936, first meeting her on a Washington DC trolley. They had their first child, Joan Louise Bartlett in 1941, followed by Susan Hill Bartlett in 1944.
Orrin was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Louise, his older brothers Henry Hallock 'Hal' Bartlett of Oregon, and Henry Arthur Bartlett III of Silver Spring, Maryland.
He is survived by both his daughters, Joan Reynolds of Silver Spring, Maryland and Susan Burke of Chevy Chase, Maryland.
He is further survived by his three grandchildren:
- William Burke of Silver Spring, Maryland
- Kelly Nelson Tyree of Gaithersburg, Maryland
- Taylor Burke of Washington, DC.
He is further survived by three great-grandchildren:
- Paige Tyree, Jackson Tyree, and Josephine Tyree, of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
