Ingeborg Nelson 1876-1946
Funeral services were conducted at the Bethel Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 1, for Mrs. E. D. Nelson, who passed away at a Crookston hospital the precious Monday.
Mrs. Nelson had been ill for about four weeks and death came at 5:45 on the morning of May 27. She had reached the age of 69 years, 9 months and 24 days at the time of her passing.
Ingeborg Ulven was born in Voss, Norway, on August 2, 1876, to Peter and Katherine Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in a Lutheran Church in Norway. In 1900 she sailed from her native land and came to America, settling first at Madison, Wisconsin.
On March 27, 1907, she was united in marriage to E. D. Nelson and they made their home on a farm near Scarville, Iowa. In 1915 they moved to their present home in Sletten township. Three children were born to this union, all of whom survive.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband and three daughters, Hilda Nelson and Mrs. Peter (Cora) Christenson, at home, and Mrs. Thanford (Emma) Johnson of Bagley, Minnesota. Also surviving are two step sons and one step daughter, a brother Lars Johnson of Emmons, Minnesota, and two sisters in Norway. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rev. C. S. Lystig officiated at the services and special music was furnished by Mrs. Olaf Berge and Mrs. Lloyd Gasselman. Pallbearers were Cornel Olson, Ingvald Lohn, Andrew Marum, Olaf Ekre, Godfrey Kaupang and Albert Neset.
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Nelson, Cross Lake, Minnesota; Lars Johnson and Harry Larson of Emmons, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Larson, Walnut Grove, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Peterson of Clarissa, Minnesota; Mrs. Abe Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Olson of Fertile, Minnesota and Mr. and Mrs. John Svegdahl, and Hjalmer Throne, all of Greenbush, Minnesota. Also Mr. and Mrs. Nels Erickson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Erickson of Twin Valley, Mrs. James Aase and children, Kenyon, Minnesota; Thomas Reierson, Greattinger, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson and daughter, Mr. J. C. T. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson, Mrs. Joe Thorstad, Julia Thorstad and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoppe and Walter, and Mrs. Clarence Halvorson, all of Bagley, Minnesota.
