Henry was a son of Abraham Youngkin, Jr. and Sarah Montgomery. He was a tailor in Findlay, Ohio when he met and married Elizabeth Shafer in 1849. In 1859 the family removed to Lavaca Co., Texas. He was in the Texas Militia and was given the rank of Colonel on 1 Oct 1870 by Governor Edmond J. Davis. Occupation: Tailor, teacher, rancher, pharmacist. The family lived in Hallettsville, TX in later years.

Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Youngkin of Hallettsville celebrated their golden wedding at the home of their son, Dr. J.A. Youngkin. Both Mr. and Mrs. Youngkin have lived more than the allotted three score years and ten and are hale and hearty.
