Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Bradley Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Spires, the daughter of the late Elbert Wood and Sybol Wilkes Wood, was born in Macon on October 14, 1942, and had lived in Jones County area her entire life. She was a graduate of Dudley M. Hughes High School in Macon and was a homemaker. A member of Bradley Baptist Church, Mrs. Shirley was the best wife, mother, sibling, Christian and friend that anyone could ever hope to have in their life. She was loved by everyone who ever met her and she will be missed greatly.
Mrs. Spires is survived by her husband of forty-eight years: Daniel; her children: David and Christy; grandsons: Nathan and Brandon; brothers: C. W., Fred and Jerry; sisters: Peggy, Betty and Mary; and by her dogs: Casper, Pig and Buddy.
