Joy Lee Shepherd, 67, of Alger, died Sunday, August 19, 2001 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born June 27, 1934 in Breathitt County, KY, to Jake and Effie (Howard) Rowe, both of whom are deceased.

On July 7, 1952, she married Alonzo Shepherd, who died February 22, 1992.

Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker who attended the Ada Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include three sons: Kirk (Zelma) Shepherd of Alger, Bill Shepherd of Alger, and Jake Allen (Chris) Shepherd of Rawson; three daughters: Linda (Rick) Mundy of Alger, Cindy (Larry) Ramey of McGuffey and Rhonda (Roy) Woodruff of Alger; two brothers: Chalmer (Rhonda) Rowe of Alger and Bernie (Teresa) Rowe of Lafayette; three sisters: Rosie (Buster) Evans of Alger, Florence Quicksell of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Ethel (Don) Arnett of Alger; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Kelly and Dexter Rowe.

Services were held Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Pastor Robert Dye officiating.

Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
