James Stewart Nash

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. James Stewart Nash, 93, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19th at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Mike Anderson of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave.

Mr. Nash was a native of Oakdale, LA and a resident of Shreveport, LA for over 60 years. He was a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Nash was a resident of Alexandria in his earlier years and graduated from Bolton High School in 1933. He briefly worked for the railroad and the U.S. Board of Cotton Examiners before enlisting in the Army in 1941. He served his country on active duty until 1945 when he transferred to the Army Reserves. Mr. Nash started working for SWEPCO in 1947. He met his sweet Lillian at a company picnic and they married January 15, 1949. Mr. Nash worked for SWEPCO for 33 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Broadmoor Masonic Lodge and the El Karubah Shrine Temple.

Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 58 years, Lillian Nash; brothers, Tommy and William; and sisters, Lydia, Edith, Madie, Estelle and Frances. He is survived by his two daughters, Fran Boyce, of Dallas, TX and Nancy Ashby and husband, Don, of Branson, MO; three grandchildren, Christina Clemons, Marietta Clemons, both of Shreveport, LA and Zachary Ashby, of Branson, MO; and two brothers, Harvey Nash and wife, Frances, of Sweetwater, TX and Ben H. Nash, of Texarkana, TX.
