Jack Setaro was born in Virginia City, Storey County, Nevada. During his adolescent years he moved with his mother, brother, Kennedy grandparents and uncle to Escalon, California. It was there that he spent the rest of his life, raising his own family on the land on which he was raised on East Ayers Avenue in the house that he built.

He was a walnut farmer and member of the Carpenter's Union, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Hardworking, kind and quiet with a sharp wit.

As a child, I remember him as being the strongest man I could imagine as he was able to crack a single walnut in the palm of his hand.
