Dale Harvey James, 71, of New Auburn passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
He was born Dec. 26, 1937, to Harvey and Goldie (Hyde) James. As a young man he had a passion for horses. He and his beautiful Morgan horse, Gypsy, participated in many rodeos, placing high and winning numerous ribbons. He served in the U.S. Navy and was active in the Masonic Lodge. He married Shirley Emberts in 1958. Together they raised four daughters, Tracy Nelson (Scott), Brenda Robinson (Butch), Rebecca Pompoco (Jim) and Cindy Krueger (Jeff). He has seven grandchildren he adored and enjoyed, Tessa, Brandon, Dana, Shannon, Travis, Triston and Trevor. Dale will be missed by many. He is further survived by two brothers, Lee (Judy) James of New Auburn and Gordon (Donna) Rooney of San Jose, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Wally and Merle.
Dale worked in the trucking industry for over 50 years. If you asked him where a certain truck stop or highway was he could tell you without even thinking twice! He was a walking atlas. He touched many lives from coast to coast, leaving a legacy of kindness, selflessness, generosity, love and always a joke or two or three or four!
A celebration of Dale's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, village of Lake Hallie, 11591 17th Ave, Chippewa Falls. Visitation will start at 1 p.m.
