CAMDEN—Charles R. Halliday, 77, of 12 Ripley Drive , passed away Wednesday, September 7, 1994, in Oneida City Hospital after being stricken at home.

He was born May 20, 1917 in Watertown, New York, a son of Charles V. And Ethelyn C Durant Halliday. He was a graduate of Camden High School class of 1935.

Charlie was united in marriage to the former Eleanor R. Kirch on October 29, 1941 in Portland , Maine.

He was a vetern of the US Navy having served during World War 2 from 1937 to 1945. He was a superintendent of maintance for 23 years at the former Oneida County Home and Hospital retiring in 1978. He was a member of the V.F.W.LT. Victor Giles Post # 6530 of Camden and the Arthur S. Moran Post # 0066 of the American Legion, Camden, New York.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor ; four daughters and a son - in -law , Susan Halliday, of Camden, Ethelyn and Gerald Smith of Elmira, New york; Carol Beck of Taberg, and Gail Harvey of Camden,; A son, Charles V. Halliday, of Camden; three sisters, Mrs Isabel Lovenguth and Mrs. Richard (Ethelyn) Cox of Williamstown, and Mrs. Frances Compton of Altanta, Georgia.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In keeping with Charlie's wishes, cremation will take place at Waterville crematory. There are no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home 807 W. Chesnut Street, Rome, New York.

His ashes were scattered near a creek outside Camden, Oneida Co., New York, that he used to fish on all the time.
