Linda Elaine Stevenson of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 surrounded by her loving family and friends. A native of Port Arthur, she was born on October 7, 1946 to Craig Howard and Lily Jane Hansen Stevenson.

She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and took her Bachelor of Sociology from Lamar University in Beaumont. Linda was a lifelong Presbyterian. She pursued two careers during her all too brief life, the first, serving as a Trust Officer at Allied Bancshares. Later, she joined the registrar's office at Lamar State College, Port Arthur, where she retired in 2005. She was a member of the Service League of Port Arthur and a past president of the League's sustaining members. To know Linda was to know her passions. She loved her family and dearest friend from early childhood, Judy Thomas, and they adored her, particularly her many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. She had a delightful wit and easily engaged others with her warmth and genuine interest in people. Over the years, she graciously accepted the role of Stevenson family counselor.

Linda was predeceased by her father and grandparents, Adolph Severin and Marga Josephine Christoffersen Hansen and Charles Ralph and Mabel Eunice Tomlinson Stevenson.

She is survived by her mother; sister, Beverly Stevenson Edwards and husband, Tom; sister Sylvia Stevenson Williams and husband Jeff; brother Craig Howard Stevenson, Jr. and wife Adair; brother Scott Alan Stevenson; nephew Geof Edwards and wife Pat; nephew Jon Edwards and wife Michelle; nephew Jeremy Moore and wife Lindsay; nephew Craig Stevenson III; niece Ashley Stevenson; niece Lauren Williams; nephew Jordan Williams; great niece Avery Moore; great nephews Justin Moore, Zander Moore, and Caelin Moore; great nephew Skyler Edwards; and great niece Graycen Edwards; and great nephew Connor Williams.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the United Methodist Temple, 4l01 Hwy 73 in Port Arthur and will be followed by a service at 3:00 p.m.. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.

The family extends profound thanks to caregivers Ester Henderson, Helen Blue, Brenda Dugas, Carrie Franks, Sue Kelly, Sandra Olaye, Dorothy Salsberry, and Edith Taylor. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the Baylor College of Medicine, Cullen Eye Institute in Houston.
