Damm of Collins Is Polio Victim; Third in County
Dies in Sheboygan Hospital; Had Been Ill Only One Week
The third fatality in the current outbreak of poliomyelitis was recorded in Manitowoc county when Allen J. Damm, 24, of Collins, died last night at a Sheboygan hospital. One victim in the county and one in the city constituted the previous polio deaths. Health authorities today reported the total number of cases had been increased to 43 in the Manitowoc area. This figure includes 26 in the city, 15 throughout the county and two in Two Rivers.

A 16-year-old boy, residing at route 5, Manitowoc, was stricken with the disease last night and immediately transported to the Wisconsin General hospital at Madison. Another city case on the west side broke out over the holiday weekend, it was reported. Mr. Damm contacted the disease a little over a week ago and was said to be resting comfortably at the Sheboygan hospital until
his death last night. Recently Married Born Dec. 5, 1921, he married Ethel Valleskey last May 25.

Survivors are his wife, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Damm of Collins and two brothers (private).
Private funeral services were held today at the German Lutheran church cemetery in Collins with the Rev. Marcus Schwartz officiating.
