George married Phebe Wormer and moved to Huron County, Ohio in 1831 with his father and mother, Timothy West and Annie Greenfield.
1860's he built a home at the head of Main St., Dubuque.
George served with the Greybeards during the Civil War. Age 63, residence Dubuque, nativity New York. Promoted Lieutenant Colonel from Company F, Nov. 12, 1862. Mustered Dec 15, 1862. Mustered in May 24, 1865. Source: www.rootsweb.com – 37th Iowa Vol. Infantry Regiment.
