Anchorage resident Lane Alan Boyer, 66, died of a heart attack on Jan. 29 at his home. A service was at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave.
Mr. Boyer was born March 14, 1927, in Coupeville, Wash., to Jesse and Myrtle Boyer. He served in the U.S. Navy as a medic corpsman in World War II. He worked in the family meat market in Oak Harbor, Wash., until venturing into the insurance business. He moved to Fairbanks in 1957 and served as an agent for Olympic National Life as the Alaska state general agent for Olympic National and established the Insurance Broker of Alaska. Mr. Boyer semi- retired when he sold IBA in 1979. He was a life member of the U.S. Jaycees and was a past president of the Alaska State Underwriters Association. In 1992, he was honored as "Man of the Year" by Pacific Guardian Life. He enjoyed flying, hunting, gardening, entertaining, fishing, camping and boating on the "Wine Cellar II" in Prince William Sound. During the last decade, he enjoyed spending his summers fishing on the Kenai. Mr. Boyer was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Myrtle and his brother, Larry.
He is survived by his sons, Doug and Robb of Eagle River and Brad and John of Anchorage; his daughter, Barbara Prasil of Anchorage; his daughters-in-law, Janet, Gale and Leena; his son-in-law Rich Prasil; his 13 grandchildren; his two brothers, Jack of Montesano, Wash., and Don of Oak Harbor, Wash; and many nieces and nephews. Cremains were scattered this summer when the red salmon are running the Kenai River, in accordance with his wishes. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Alcoholics Anonymous, c|o Mobile Eastern Shore Area Intergroup, Central Office, 600 Bel Air Blvd., Suite 120, Mobile, Ala., 36606.
