Around 1905 his mother was admitted to Central State Hospital/Asylum in Lakeland, Jefferson County, KY where she remained until her death in 1922.
From 1917-1919, Albert served in France in the US Army during World War I, and he was honorably discharged.
After discharge he lived in Cincinnati, Ohio before returning to live with his aunt and uncle in Berry, Kentucky. It was sometime during this time, between his mid-20s and early 30s that he married for the first time and divorced. He fathered a son then as well.
From Dec 1920 to Dec 1921 Albert was at the US National Home for Disabled Soldiers, Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee being treated for active Tuberculosis. He returned to Berry upon discharge from there.
In Oct 1947 in Harrison County, Kentucky, Albert married Lena Bell (Anness) Eckler, a widow with several children. Albert and Lena lived in Berry until his death in 1985.
