LAURA M. SAMPSON was born on March 9, 1860 in Polk County, Iowa, and died on June 8, 1933 in Papillion, Sarpy County, Nebraska. She was the daughter of AQUILLA WILEY SAMPSON (1824-1898) and his wife ELIZA ANN LEAK (1824-1873).

Laura married ISAAC RIDDLE CARPENTER on February 4, 1878 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, son of JOHN ANDREW CARPENTER and his wife MAHALA NEAL. Isaac was born on April 1, 1856 in Crawford County, Indiana, and died on September 3, 1926 in Papillion, Sarpy County, Nebraska.

Laura's sister, Melissa Sampson, married John Wesley Carpenter, the brother of Isaac Riddle Carpenter.

Laura and Isaac Carpenter had the following children:

Mrs. Laura M. Carpenter
Died Last Thursday

Mrs. Laura Carpenter died at her home in South Papillion last Thursday evening [June 8, 1933] after a short illness of heart trouble, aged 73 years, one month and 22 days. She had been in failing health for some time but until a few weeks ago her condition had not been considered grave.

Laura Carpenter was born in Polk county, Iowa March 9, 1860 where she spent her younger years. She was united in marriage with Isaac R. Carpenter February 4, 1879. In 1885 they moved to Sarpy county, residing for a time in Platford precinct but the greater part of the time in this vicinity.

Five children were born to this union, who of whom survive. They are one daughter, Mrs. F. R. Lamb, deputy county treasurer the past several years, and one son, Denver Carpenter of near Plainview. The husband and father preceded her seven years ago.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Claire Funeral home in Papillion, Rev. E. C. Sitts of Bellevue officiating.

Several selections of music were sung by Mrs. Claire Sitts Smith and her sister, Florence, accompanied by Miss Irene Trumble. Many of the old neighbors and friends attended the services.

The pall bearers were Messrs. Henry Fase, R. W. Sprague, R. A. Hanes, George K. Gramlich, Martin Allen and Charles Startzer.

Burial was in the family lot in Cedar Dale cemetery.
