Final rites were held for John P. Longshore, 80, last Saturday, Nov. 5 at the First Methodist Church here. He died Nov. 5 in a local hospital.
Mr. Longshore had lived in the Hedley community of Hall County since 1912 when he came here from Wise County. He was engaged in farming until his retirement a few years ago.
Burial services were in the Fairview Cemetery, Rev. Rollo Davidson of Memphis. Rev. O.C. Evans of Lakeview and Rev. Frank Storey of Hedley were officiating ministers. Marcum Funeral Home directed the services.
Surviving relatives included four daughters, Mrs. W.W. Richards and Mrs. Henry Moore, both of Hedley, Mrs. Bertie Harrison and Mrs. G.W. Lockhart, both of Amarillo; four sons, Tommie and Richard of Los Angeles, J.W. of Lakeview and Roy of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Earl and Mrs. Mattie Davidson, both of Beckville; and two brothers, M.J. and Turner Longshore, both of Carthage, 24 grand children and 28 great grand children also survive. His wife and two sons preceded him in death.
Pall bearers at the funeral services were Earl Richards, J.C. Lockhart, Lilbert Lockhart, Alvin Phillips, Hoover Harrison and Travis Bland.
