Age 69, of Owosso, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 in Florida.

Herb owned, operated and was president of Swan Oil Company in Benton Harbor, Michigan, for thirty-five years.

Funeral Services will be held 2 pm, Friday, January 8, 2009 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor John Walworth officiating. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 8 pm, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.

Herb was born on April 1, 1940 in Corunna, the son of Harold and Alice (Gray) Swan. He graduated from Corunna High School with the class of 1958. He served in the United States Army.

On August 10, 2004 he married Catherin L. Clayton. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a green thumb and his greatest passion was being on his farm out on Hibbard Road where he took great pride in tending to his nut trees, fruit trees, ornamental trees, flowers and fish farm. Most of all he loved his family, as they were his greatest treasure.

Survivors include his wife, Catherin; children, Mike Swan, Chris (Robyn) Swan, Julie Swan, Andrea (Mike) Swan, Bob Swan, Amy (Kurt) Waugh, Brian Davis and Mark Davis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola Teijkl, Arlene (Charles) Bukovick; brother, Harold (Annie) Swan, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

He was predeceased by his son, Timothy; his parents; two sisters, Lois Teijkl and Donna Hall; and brother-in-law, Harold Teijkl.
