Sarah Nelson Bledsoe Ellison, of New Bern, daughter of the late Benjamin H. Nelson Sr. and Eva Land Nelson, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Two Rivers Healthcare Center. She was 88. Mrs. Ellison was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was retired from Cherry Point, where she worked as a procurement officer for the U.S. Navy.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James O. Bledsoe Sr. and Edwin Ellison; brothers, Benjamin Harrison Nelson Jr. and Edmond Nelson; and sisters, Elinor Nelson Brown, Rosa Nelson Wildes and Alma Nelson Hodges.
Graveside funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at New Bern Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jeremy Warnick officiating.
She is survived by one son, James O. Bledsoe Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Jacksonville Fla.; two daugthers, Virginia Bledsoe Lawson and her husband, Glenn, of New Bern and Martha Bledsoe Faw and her husband, Wiley, of New Bern; granddaughter, Kim Rikard and her husband, Michael, of New Bern; seven other grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
