Donna M. Williams, 97, of 301 N. Bowery Ave., Gladwin, died Sunday, March 24, in the Gladwin Area Hospital after a long illness. Born in Gladwin Sept. 4, 1887, she graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Monroe and attended Eastern Michigan College from 1908 to 1910. She taught school in Gladwin, Battle Creek and Detroit before moving to Bronxville, N.Y. She moved back to Gladwin in 1942. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin Women's Club and a past member of the Gladwin Library Board. The former Donna Shaffer, she was married to Michael Williams July 11, 1922, in Gladwin. He preceded her in death in 1942.
Surviving is one son, Dr. John Williams, Phd of Ann Arbor. A brother, Judge John Shaffer died April 14, 1969. Services were held today, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Father Donald Christensen officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. A scripture service was held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home.
