After a very brief illness Mrs. Mary A. Read, widow of the late G. E. Read died at her late home in Richland, Saturday. evening. November 16, 1901. Mary Ann Daniels was the oldest child of David M. and Mary Homer Daniels and was born in Brimfield, Mass., the 7th of October, 1831. As her parents came west in the early thirties, she was one of the pioneers of the southern part of Michigan, having spent the most of her life in Kalamazoo county. In March 1855 she was married to Gilbert E. Read who also came to Michigan from the east. Four of their five children survive them, Mrs. Justin Cooks of Homer, Charles K. Read of Traverse City, Clayton A. and Fanny K. Read of Richland. Two sisters and a brother of the deceased also survive her. Mrs. David Lynch of Sebastopol. Cal., Dr. A. Daniels of Mitchell, S. Dak. and Mrs. Sherman Comings of Galesburg. Mich. Interment was in the Richland cemetery, Tuesday. Rev. Geo. J. Rea of Boyne officiated at the burial. Semi-Weekly Argus November 19, 1901 page 1
