MANCHESTER - Lawrence L. "Buzz" Twombly Sr., 73, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Elliot Hospital.

He was born in Deerfield on March 29, 1935, the son of Waldo and Beatrice (Smith) Twombly. He was raised in Deerfield and was a graduate of Raymond High School. He lived in Manchester for almost 50 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the former Blue Line Express as a truck driver.

Mr. Twombly was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 633 and the Eagles Aires 240 of Manchester. He will be remembered for his involvement with the Deerfield Fair Association.

His wife of 27 years, Cynthia (Fugere) Twombly, died in March 1984.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Chadwick of Dallas, N.C., and Faith Marie Jones and her husband, Gregory, of Powell, N.Y.; two sons, Lawrence "Buzzy" Twombly Jr. and his wife, Jill, of La Costa, Calif., and Richard "Ricky" Twombly of Manchester; six grandchildren, Gail Dinnel and her husband, Dirk, Kenneth Chadwick, Jacob Jones, Jordan Jones, Alexandra Twombly and Brady Twombly; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Dinnel; five sisters, Eleanor Davis, Alice French, Edith Kimball, Priscilla Foss and Elizabeth Fayan; two brothers, Waldo Twombly and David Twombly; as well as his good friend, Craig Young.

Calling hours will not be held.

Burial with military honors will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Deerfield Community Church, 9 Old Center Road, Deerfield.
