Lucy H. Ridgway, 79, of Aberdeen, died Friday evening (Oct. 17, 2008) at St. Luke West Hospital in Florence, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Slick" Ridgway, who died March 9, 1996.

She was born Jan. 25, 1929 near Hillsboro, daughter of the late Glenn and Lumetta Roberds Hiser. She was a retail crafter. She was a 1948 graduate of Marshall High School, had managed the Highland County Swim Club for over 20 years, had been a buyer for the Fairley Hardware Stores for over 20 years and had been a cook for the Hillsboro Elks Club.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Cindy (Gary) Whited of Laurelville and Sandy (Robert) Simpson of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) Whited of Delaware and Matthew (Amanda) Whited of Circleville; three stepgrandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Simpson of West Chester, Jennifer Simpson of Wilmington and Mike (Sarah) Simpson of Richmond, Ky.; three great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Hill of Hillsboro; a special friend, Ernie Stefan of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; and two good friends, Flo Munz of Lebanon and Margaret Ann Tolbert of Bristol, Tenn.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Secrest.

A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, Hillsboro, with cremation following and burial of cremains in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Care Hospice, P.O. Box 123, Wilmington, 45177.
