SOUTH BEND-Mrs. Ruby L. Stratigos, 85, died Wednesday morning at 9:00 am, at Shubert Villas, Holly Cross Village, surrounded by loved ones. Ruby was born on June 22, 1924, in Muncie, IN. She graduated from Ball State University and taught at Lakeville High School. She later served on the South Bend Community School Corporation Board in 1966.

On June 22, 1947 she married George S. Stratigos, who preceded her in death.

Ruby was a member of the Service Guild, Pi Phi Sorority, The Good Samaritans and St. Andrew's Greet Orthodox Church of South Bend. Her favorite hobbies included knitting, playing Bridge, working in the garden and travels to Greece. Most importantly, Ruby was a beloved guiding force in her children's lives and an adoring and treasured Yiayia to her grandchildren. She and her husband George purchased the franchise and started Barnaby's Pizza here in 1969.

Ruby is survived by her three children; Spyridon "Don" Stratigos (Niki) of Bloomington, IN, Amelia Stratigos (James Allen) of Spokane, WA, and John Stratigos (Kate) of South Bend; and her grandchildren: Gabriel Stratigos (Stacey) of Atlanta, GA, Alexi Velis Weirich (Kent) and Dr. Nick Velis of San Fransisco, CA, Nick and George Stratigos of Bloomington, Johanna Stratigos of Scottsdale, AZ, Michael Stratigos of South Bend and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Cannon and Sayre.

"May Her Memory Be Eternal." Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, at St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church. Friends may call from 10-11:00 am in the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
