John Harlon Campbell was born in Kentucky to Napoleon Bonaparte Campbell and Martha Delpha Hadley. They moved, with several family members in three covered wagons and a one-horse hack to Wentworth, Missouri around 1897. They made the move to Oklahoma around 1903 and settled first in Logan then Wagoner County. John married at least twice, first to Jenny, last name unknown. My grandmother said they had a stillborn little girl, name and burial details unknown. They divorced soon after. On 20 Dec 1940, he married Ethel Manilla Cook, a divorcee, with whom he spent his remaining years. They spent the greater part of their married life in Oregon before moving to Texas City, Texas. John suffered from a severe case of emphysemia. He was hit by a car and died at the age of 84. His body was returned home to Oklahoma where he was laid to rest by his parents, two sisters, and a brother, in the Campbell family plot.
