Ashley Farris EDWARDS
Funeral services for Ashley Farris EDWARDS were held Oct. 22 at the Hudson-Phillips Chapel with Jerry MCCORKLE of Lindsay officiating, assisted by Doug EDWARDS of Moore.

He was born June 2, 1921 near the Gum Springs community to Roscoe and Pearl (HOLT) EDWARDS and died Oct. 19 at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 80.

Mr. EDWARDS attended Calvin and Holdenville schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as signalman in the U. S. Coast Guard. He was also a member of the American Legion and a deacon in the Fourth and Broadway Church of Christ.

Mr. EDWARDS was employed as an insurance salesman for Travelers Motor Club for about 40 years.

On June 7, 1947, he and Juanita COTTON were married in Holdenville and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2000.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Laura GRAHAM, Willis PETERS, Ona BRITTIAN and Mattie CALDWELL; brothers, Albert, Lewis, John and E. J. EDWARDS and two brothers died in infancy.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jeff HINZE of Holdenville; two granddaughters, Ronna and Lynn HINZE; and nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.
