George W. Lawrence of the 200 block of Greenwood Lane died Oct. 28, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mr Lawrence was a retired tugoat captain having worked for 42 years for Curtis Bay Towing Co. He also served in the U. S. Navy during world War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Lawrence; three sons, G. W. Lawrence and wife, Carol, of Virginia Beach, James E. Lawrence of Poplar Branch, N.C., and Carl E. Lawrence and wife, Mary, of Morganton, N. C.; two daughters, Mary E. Lynch of Shiloh, N.C. and Joanna C. Parrish of Virginia Beach; two brothers, John and Clarence Lawrence, both of Norfolk; three sisters; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by Pastor Larry Shoaf. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel.
