NOTES from Sharon
Angonety Perry was born June 13, 1850 in NC. We aren't sure of the county.
She was buried June 22, 1878, at Mt Zion United Methodist Church in Piney Creek, Alleghany Co, NC.

She had James Gordon Adams, my Grandfather, in 1875 in Piney Creek.

I don't know why she died so young.

James William Adams, according to family, or William James Adams, as he went by, was born in 1851/1852 in NC. I'm not sure of the county.
He died in 1916 and is buried in the Mt Zion United Methodist Church in Piney Creek, Alleghany Co, NC.

The family legend is that William Adams's Mother was a full blood Cherokee and his father was shamed by his family into deserting William.
He was left with a family in Wilkes Co. named Jones.
We thought maybe William's mother was a Jones from Wilkes Co.
And, William and she went to live with her family.
Or maybe she gave William to her family.

I do not find William in a census before 1880.
I find him in 1880 with his new wife Talithia Reeves.
They have my Grandfather, James Gordon, with them.
They are in Prathers Creek, Alleghany Co, NC.
I know that is Alleghany Co and was Ashe, I think, used to be part of Wilkes Co.

We've tried looking for Ann Jeannette and all sorts of variations of Angonety. We can't find that name anywhere. It is the name on her tombstone.
The cemetery records say Agonety. She may be the one that is indian. Or, maybe she was from Alleghany Co.
William's mother's name on his marriage certificate is given as Winna.
And, on his death certificate someone wrote in Rebecca as her name. The father's name is not given. We thought that strange.
I really appreciate your help on this matter. We are at a deadend on who Angoney Perry and Winna or Rebecca Adams are.
Thank you so much. Sincerely, Sharon

Pls let us know if you have any info.
