Alta Lillian Detweiler, 95, rural Fisher, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 12, 2010) at her home in rural Fisher.

She was born March 17, 1914 in rural Fisher to J.A. and Fannie Schrock Heiser. She married Justus J. Detweiler on Sept. 17, 1939. He preceded her in death March 11, 1951.

She is survived by a daughter, Justine (David) Trout; a son, Dennis (Elizabeth) Detweiler; three nieces; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie and Willard Heiser and two sisters, Mabel Teuscher and Edna Cender.

Alta was a founding member of the Gibson City Bible Church. All her life Alta was a student of the Bible and a lover of hymns.

She had an active concern for encouraging and praying for missionary families, both foreign and domestic, especially those whose focus is on children. In her earlier years she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher, Bible story teller and a AWANA teacher. It was very important to her that every child with whom she came in contact learned about Jesus.
