James Hiram Deatherage: member of 3d Arkansas Inf., Co. F, filed and application for an Arkansas Confederate veteran's pension #1336 in 1893. His widow Nancy J. Deatherage filed an application in 1897. They apparently lived in Benton County. He died May 13, 1897. [Index to Arkansas Confederate Pension Applications, p. 94] Per David Yost

Obituary:
James Deatherage died at his home near Springtown, Arkansas, at 1:40 pm, May 13, 1897. ... At the beginning of the late war he enlisted in the Confederate Army and was wounded in the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He never fully recovered from its effects, suffering frequently severe pain from the old wound.
