Charles Landis Rosenberry of Palmyra

Charles Landis Rosenberry, 85, of Palmyra, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home.

He was the husband of Dorothy Charlton Rosenberry, and his first wife, the late Grace Manley, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.

Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Flourtown, he was the son of the late William James Rosenberry and the late Frances Landis Rosenberry.

Charles grew up in Roxbury and later moved to Westtown in 1936, where he grew up to be farm manager for Echelo Farm. Upon the sale of the farm, he worked as a master carpenter for W.A. Rosenberry, his nephew. He then retired in 1985 from Rouse Associates.

While living in West Chester, he was a member of the West Chester Church of the Nazarene for 27 years and was a volunteer at the Chester County Hospital.

Charles and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra after their retirement, where he was an active volunteer, especially on the grounds.

Charles also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Grace R. Gale of West Chester, and Charlotte M. Blain of Coudersport; one brother, Russell J. Rosenberry of New Holland; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the West Chester Church of the Nazarene, Price and Darlington streets, West Chester.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Interment will be in Longwood Cemetery, Kennett Square.
