Marie Ellen Harmon, age 73, a longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at home after an extended illness on Jan. 9, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Harmon was born on April 3, 1936, in Kokomo, Ind., to the late George B. and Frances Beatty. She was a devoted military wife and cherished her family.
Mrs. Harmon is survived by her sons, Thomas W. Harmon and his wife Adrian of Taylorsville, Ky., and Timothy Blain Harmon of Fort Walton Beach; her very special granddaughter, Jesse Tenee Harmon of Crestview, Fla.; brother, Max Allen Beatty; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Almeda Mast. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edgar W. Harmon; and siblings, Donald Beatty and his wife Louise, Geneve Cody and her husband Keith, Alberta Glassburn, George Beatty Jr., Doyle Beatty and his wife Paula, William Scott Beatty, and Viola Moloch and her husband Sam.
Graveside services will be held at Beal Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 4 p.m. with Chaplain Frank Dole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, Fort Walton Beach branch.
