His mother Mary Pool was born 26 Mar 1797 in Somerset, England and died 05 Jun 1858 in Nether Stowey, Somerset, England. Her parents were Thomas Poole and Sarah Bryant. The first child of Charles and August was Helen LeRoy Lowday; she worked many years at Joske's as a bookkeeper, never married and outlived all her siblings; Milton McKay Lowday, the second born and married Ethel May McFarland of Beaumont,Texas and had three daughters; George Stephen was the third child and he never married George worked for the railroad. The last issue was Mary Tabitha Lowday who married Joe Evan McDowell. Mary and Joe had one daughter, Helen Etta McDowell. Mary died when little Helen was 12 years old.
