In late Oct of 1891 as workmen were removing all known graves from the defunct Presbyterian cemetery in Georgetown, they accidentally uncovered this unmarked grave. According to the Washington Post, a silver plate stated 'Mrs. ---- Livingston, of Clermont, obit, Died 22d of March, 1814, in the sixty-third year of her age'. The body is said to be that of the wife of a man from New York who once was the U.S. Minister to France and who also served as State chancellor. The Livingston manor is on the Hudson at Livall and was called Clermont.
An email from the curator of the Clermont State Historic Site in Germantown, N.Y. says this appears to be Mary Stevens Livingston, wife of Robert R. Livingston.
No information on how or when apparently her remains were moved to Tivoli, a mile or so down the road from Clermont and reburied next to husband.
