Wilkins, who served his Country in the Civil War was a volunteer in Co A., 39th Wisconsin Infantry and in recognition of his service was granted a certificate of thanks signed by Abraham Lincoln, president of the United State and Edwin M Stanton, Sec of War. This certificate being now preserved in the Carnegie Public Library of this city.
