Franklin W. George Sr., 74, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Arturo Meza officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Mr. George was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Amarillo, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years. Franklin loved fishing and hunting; and in recent years, he loved to play bingo.

Survivors include his wife, Jane George; a son, Franklin W. George Jr. and wife Pamela Dawn; a stepdaughter, Deborah Johnson and husband Leonard of Rochester, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Franklin W. George III, Lacee Cheyenne Hampton and Keely Brianne Doyle; and a sister, Bessie Vinita Martinez of Denver.

The family suggests memorials be to American Lung Association National Headquarters, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800. Washington, DC 20004; or American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
