Homer Virvm Purdham, 47, an auto mechanic, of Stanley, passed away at his home on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., July 23, after being in failing health for the past three years.

On December 21, 1918, he was born in Stanley, the son of the late John Samuel Purdham and Florence Mamie Wilson Purdham, who survives. He was a member of the Stanley Baptist Church. He was married to the former Beatrice Mae Higgs who survives.

Besides his mother and wife he is survived by two sons, Wayne Purdham, of Missouri and Jerry Purdham, of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Mrs. Clara M. Lucas, Mrs. Judy Comer and Mrs. Bonnie Merica, all of Shenandoah; two brothers, James F. Purdham, of Alexandria, and Isaac F. Purdham, of Stanley; and one sister, Mrs. Mildred E. Braun, of Baltimore. One half brother and one half sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, from the Chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. O’Neal in charge. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
