FORMER READING MAN PASSES AWAY IN WYOMING

WAS A POLICE JUDGE IN CHEYENNE - LEFT HERE IN 1876
Judge Samuel H. Becker, formerly of Reading, died of pneumonia Friday evening, July 11, at his home, 602 E Nineteenth street, Cheyenne, Wyo., after an illness of several days.
He was born in Reading and left this place and took up his home in Indianapolis in 1876, where he resided two years before going to Cheyenne, where he died. He was a son of the late Eli B. and Peniah (Landis) Becker, both of this city. Mr. Becker was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cheyenne: Elks and the Painter's Union.
Judge Becker was a conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad 13 years and was a civil service employee at Fort Russell 15 years, retiring on the pension list two years ago. At the time of his demise he was police judge at Cheyenne. At one period he held the office of the justice of the peace in that city. During the time that he resided in Reading he was a painter.
Beside his wife, Mary Becker, a native a Milwaukee, he is survived by two daughters, Millie, wife of William J. Wilde, Wheatland, Wyo., and Mrs. Hazel Hall, Cheyenne; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Harry and Mary, and one brother, Frank T. Becker, of Reading.
The funeral took place from the church of which he was a member. High mass of requiem was celebrated. Interment was made in Cheyenne.
