Kathryn Vitrola Reed was born in Monroe City, Knox County, Indiana, the daughter of Wesley Abner and Nancy Summit Reed. "Trollie" married John W. Abrams on December 1, 1895 in Knox County and they had two daughters, Blanche and Bessie ("Betty").

At some point after 1900 (census), "Trollie" and John Abrams were no longer married and in 1907, she married Daniel Bruner of Martin County. Daniel had two children by a former wife - a son Shirley and a daughter Ruth. In 1909 Violet was born. The 1910 census shows that "Trollie" had her two daughters by John Abrams (he may have died). In 1910 the children in the household were Blanche, Betty, Shirley, Ruth, and the baby Violet. They were living in Vincennes Township, Knox County, IN, near "Trollie's" parents. (Her sister Violet Rosetta Reed married Daniel's brother William Bruner in 1900.

Between 1910 and 1920 "Trollie" took Blanche, Betty, and Violet and was married to Henry W. Wilson. They were living in Greene County in 1920.

Some time after 1920 and before 1930, "Trollie" married Louis Ukena in Terre Haute, Indiana. It is not known if whether Henry Wilson died or if they were divorced. "Trollie" and Louie did not have any children. but they were close to "Trollie's" children Betty and Violet.
